Email us at creeklandpta@live.com | New Butterfly Garden at Creekland Middle School | Eagle Scout Scott Joiner, a former CMS student, and our CMS PTA Environmental Committee joined together to provide the school with a beautiful new butterfly garden! We wish to give a special thanks to Jo Anna Cox, the Greenhouse Manager at Creative Enterprises Inc., for her part in this project. CEI (www.ceisite.com) is a not-for-profit community organization that works with adults with disabilities. They have a greenhouse and nursery; selling plants to the community.

Scott was a student at Creekland Middle School and is now a 16 year-old 10th grader at Collins Hill High School. He has been a member of Troop 501 since “crossing over” from Cub Scout Pack 544 as a 5th grader. As a part of becoming an Eagle Scout,  Scott developed and managed this non-profit project working toward earning the Eagle Scout Award. The process requires the scout develop, manage and execute a project idea for a not-for-profit or community organization. He gains agreement with the project owner, writes the project proposal up (including a project plan, budget, estimated number of ‘man-hours’ necessary to complete), gets approval of the project before a Boy Scout District Eagle Scout Project board, gains funding for the project, leads in the completion of the project, completes a final project write-up (including what was done, what was different from the original plan, and key learnings). This must be presented to the Eagle Scout District Board as one of the final steps to earning Eagle Scout.
On behalf of students, parents, teachers and staff of CMS we wish to thank Scott for his leadership and initiative to provide this wonderful improvement, to our courtyard, to be enjoyed for years to come! | 8th Grade Social | The 8th social will be held on Friday, May 18 from 12:30-3:45 pm on the lower field. We need volunteers to help with this event starting at noon. You will not need to work the whole 4 hours (unless you want to). We will be breaking it down into shifts.
